Ride ProgressMiles to date: 5,645 · Journal 10-30-06 Well soberjack is back home. It has been a wonderful trip. First I would like to thank all of you. Thank you for your prayers, your emails, and your donations. I am not sure what the next step in life is, but I know God will show me. I am going to start working for my buddy Justin. That is who I worked with before I left. I will also get into working out and running. I won't have as much time to ride my bike, but whenever I do I will take it. I am grateful to be home. It has been a long journey, one that I will never forget. I enjoyed every minute of it. Even the hard times. I have learned a lot about mysef, and now it is time to apply what I have learned out there to a normal every day life. I plan on taking another trip next April. It will not be as long as this one. We'll just have to wait and see though. Once again thank you for your help along the way. Keep me in your prayers. I will email every now and then and update you on my life. Have a good day. · Journal 10-26-06 Well the last leg of my trip will begin on Thrusday. I am looking forward to getting on the road and completing this journey. I have enjoyed almost every minute of it. I know it has definatley been a learning experience. I have about 300 more miles to go to make it home to LR. Can't wait. I will be arriving in town on Monday October 30th about 11:30 am. I will end the ride on the North Little Rock side of the new bike bridge. That is where Cook's Landing is. It would be nice if you could make it out to see me. If the time is going to change I will let you know. I have allowed myself plenty of time to make it there by then and don't see a problem with it. God willing I will be there. Thanks and hope to see you there. Have a great day · Journal 10-21-06 Well I have been hanging out with friends in Dallas. Helping around the house and relaxing. Things are going good. Will leave next week sometime and it is a little over 300 miles to the house. I am ready to be home and finish this trip. This trip has been good for me, but since I left San Fran it has been a hard journey. But that is part of life. Home is not far and then figuring out the next step in life is at hand. Where will God lead me? I am ready though. · Journal Entry 10-18-06 Hello all. I am in Vernon, Tx. About 30 miles from where I stayed last night. I am sitting at the same computer I sat at over 4 and a half monts ago. The wind is whipping around today and is blowing me everywhere. Probably will hold up here. There is some rain in the forcast for tomorrow. Who knows though. Yesterday I rode 91 miles in 6 hours to Quanah. It was a nice ride. Hopefully the weather will clear up for me so I can get closer to home. Have a good day. · Journal Entry 10-17-06 About to get on the road. It is almost 11 am. Made it to Clarendon last night. Got into town and rode by the church here and they were having gospel meeting. I attended. The people remembered me from when I came through earlier this year. Stayed in the church. Woke up this morning to a broken spoke on my back wheel. Had to search the whole city to find one. A guy from the church had a few extra. This bicycle ride sure has gotten tough over the past couple of days. Oh well I am going to get on the road I got a good tail wind right now · Journal Entry 10-16-06 Hello all. I am in Amarillo. I am sure that won't do no good, but who knows. After that my dad bought a bus ticket for me to come home. After riding the bus for five hours and some heaving thinking I decided to get off the bus and finish this trip. The good Lord saved my life once again Friday night. I am not sure why this incident happened, but there is nothing I can do about it now. I am just thankful for like. Thank you for all your prayers. About to jump on Route 66 for a day or so and then back to I-40. Hoover Dam was neat to ride through. I'm not quite sure how they built that. The wind has been in my face the last two days, and has made it difficult to ride. Now that I am heading east instead of south, I should get some tail wind. If you are in a car, don't honk at a bicyclist unless it is just necessary. Have a good day. · Journal Entry 9-30-06 Finally a splash of good news. I received my new wheels today at about 10:00 am. It has finally just gotten to the point to where I want to quit. After this last week and a half, I don't know. But I won't quit. I am in Vegas. My wheel finally gave out on me after I got out of Death Valley. Thank goodness I made it out. The wheel only got half fixed in Bishop, and I should have made it more clear to the guy to fix the whole thing. I don't know I guess you just think people would do that on their own. Oh well. Kevin and John picked me up about 100 miles short of Vegas. I will be here for two weeks working. Staying with Kevin and Connie. Connie is the daughter of John and Wanda from Idaho. I recommend seeing it, but never riding your bicycle through it. The hills are rough, and the motorists don't care about you. Took me two days to climb that mountain. One day to almost being killed by the mountain. As I made my descent this morning, the wind got gusty. It took me for a ride. I tried to turn into a left hand curve and the wind got me and took me right to where I hit gravel and toppeled over. Knee is banged up, but bike is ok. I think I will be fine.
